Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how Myles Pollard (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores and discloses your personal information when you use this website or enquire about acting workshops, keynote speaking, emcee or communication training services.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
We only collect personal information that you choose to give us. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:
- Enquiry details — when you submit the contact form we collect your name, company, email address, phone number and the content of your message.
- Newsletter details — when you subscribe to our mailing list we collect your email address.
- Booking details — if you go on to book a workshop, keynote, emcee engagement or private coaching, we collect the information needed to arrange and invoice that booking.
- Technical information — our web server and analytics tools record information such as your IP address, browser type, device, referring page and the pages you visit.
We do not collect sensitive information, and we do not store credit card or payment card details on this website.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and provide the information you have asked for;
- arrange, confirm and deliver a booking, workshop or engagement;
- issue invoices and keep the business records we are required to keep;
- send you our newsletter, where you have subscribed; and
- understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
We will not use your information for a purpose unrelated to the one you gave it for without your consent, unless we are required or permitted by law to do so.
Marketing and unsubscribing
We will only send you marketing emails if you have subscribed to our mailing list or asked to be kept informed. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by using that link or by contacting us directly. Unsubscribing does not affect emails we need to send you about a booking you have made.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies — small files stored on your device — to keep the site working correctly and to measure how it is used. We use analytics services, which may include Google Analytics, to collect aggregated information about visits to the site, such as pages viewed, time on page and general location.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share it with:
- service providers who help us run the website, host our data, send email or process bookings and payments;
- our accountant or other professional advisers, where necessary; and
- anyone else you have authorised, or where we are required to by law.
Some of these providers may store data outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Storage and security
Enquiries submitted through this site are stored in the website’s database and emailed to us. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure, including access controls and secure hosting. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or for as long as the law requires, and then take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period. There is no fee for making a request, and we will let you know if we cannot action it and why.
Children
Some of our workshops are for participants under 18. Where a participant is a minor, we collect enrolment information from a parent or guardian and use it only to deliver and administer that workshop.
Third party links
This site links to other websites and social media platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, and the date it was last updated is shown at the top.
